Process water often contains hazardous chemical constituents, requiring it to be stored in evaporation reservoir tanks. Mining process facilities, such as those for gold and copper, cannot release this process water into streams or the ground due to environmental regulations. Therefore, they must evaporate the water to separate these constituents. <br/><br/>While this can occur naturally with sunlight in shallow reservoirs, these facilities generate tonnes of process water every day and must accelerate the evaporation process because of limited reservoir capacity.
